How to Get to Camiguin: Ferry Schedules & Airport Guide

Wondering how to get to Camiguin Island? This guide will show you two main ways to get there, so you can easily plan your trip to this magnificent island!

Reach Camiguin Island By Air

The fastest way to fly to the island is by air. You can fly directly to Camiguin Airport (CGM) from Cebu, with direct flights operated by Cebgo (a subsidiary of Cebu Pacific). If you’re traveling from Manila, you’ll need a connecting flight, usually through Cebu or another hub, as there are no direct flights on this route at present.

Direct Flight

The most convenient way to reach Camiguin is by taking a direct flight from Cebu. These flights, which are generally available daily, have a typical flight time of 55 minutes to an hour. However, it’s not uncommon for the actual travel time to be even shorter. In our experience, the flight from Cebu took just exactly 36 minutes.

Connecting Flight

If you’re traveling from Manila or other parts of the Philippines, you can reach Camiguin Island by flying through two main hubs: Cebu or Cagayan de Oro.

Flying via Cebu is the fastest way to get to the island.
Flying via Cagayan de Oro is longer but more budget-friendly option compared to Cebu.

If you are coming from your origin city (Manila for example), you will go to Laguindingan Airport (CGY) in Cagayan De Oro. Once you arrive in the airport, you will then have to drive to the Agora Bus Terminal which is an hour away from the airport.

From there, you will have to take a bus towards the Balingoan Port.

The drive from Agora Bus Terminal to Balingoan Port will take approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Once you arrive at Balingoan Port, you will then have to take a ferry to Camiguin Island.

Reach Camiguin Island By Sea

Travelling by sea is good for budget travelers or those who prefer to see more of the region. It involves a multi-leg journey as you are also going to travel by land. There are two ways how to reach Camiguin Island by sea depending on which port you are coming from: Bohol or Cagayan De Oro.

Bohol to Camiguin

From Cebu City, take a taxi ride to Cebu Pier 1.
Take a fast craft (OceanJet or SuperCat) from Cebu Pier 1 to Tagbilaran Port in Tagbilaran, Bohol. This ferry ride will take you approximately 2 hours. Boat fare starts at around 965 PHP or 17 USD. From Tagbilaran Port, you will need to take a bus to Jagna Port, which is on a different side of Bohol. This trip will take you approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Bus fare will cost at around 150 PHP or 2.65 USD for an air-conditioned bus.
From Jagna Port, take a Super Shuttle Ferry to Balbagon Port in Camiguin Island. The boat fare will cost you at around 425 PHP or 7.50 USD. This is the final ferry trip and the travel time will take approximately 3-4 hours. For updated ferry schedule, visit their website.

The approximate total travel time for this ferry trip, including the land route can be between 9 to 11 hours, including waiting times between transfers.

Cagayan De Oro to Camiguin

Upon landing in Laguindingan Airport at Cagayan De Oro, drive to Agora Bus Terminal. This land trip will typically take 1.5 hours.
From the terminal, take a bus or van bound to Balingoan Port. This land trip will take you approximately 2 to 3 hours.
From Balingoan Port, you can board a ferry (either a Roro or a fast craft) to Benoni Port in Camiguin Island. This trip will take approximately 1.5 hours. Click here to view the updated ferry schedule from Balingoan Port to Benoni Port and vice versa.
Upon arrival at Benoni Port in Camiguin Island, you can take a tricycle (or motorela as what locals call it) to take you to your hotel or accommodation.

This route is longer than flying directly from Cebu to Camiguin. However, it is generally the more affordable option and a popular choice for travelers coming from Mindanao.
